Research continually suggests that kids and youth who attend worship services regularly and are able to have long-term relationships with Christ-loving adults are best positioned to carry a sticky faith into adulthood. Our Next Generation Ministry team does a wonderful job each Sunday to create environments where kids matter and our preaching and worship teams continues to work hard at designing worship services that engages families and their children.
However, with the sporadic nature of summer, our Next Gen Ministry volunteers knew they need to do more. The result was a 9-week Summer Together experience where kids and adults are able to extend their spiritual influence from Sunday into the week.
Each Wednesday, various adults lead our kids and their friends through an exploration of various skills such as cooking, drawing, Lego construction, programming, and music development. Concluding every evening, two of our college students perform a science experiment demonstrating an aspect of the wonderful world that God has created.
Summer together has been about broadening our kids’ relationships in the church while affirming their understanding that Jesus cares about all aspects of their world and lives.
